Workshops
-
🌱 L’ovdah: Grow Your Food!
Every participant will plant their own tray of microgreens while learning how to care for their plot of land. This act of creating and sustaining our own “micro-ecosystem” drives home the lessons of stewardship that are central to Tu b’Shvat.
-
🥒 L’shomra: Preserve Your food!
Every participant learns the basics of lacto-fermentation while making their own pickled veggies. The act of food preservation through pickling provides a springboard for conversation about preserving our food and minimizing food waste.
-
🧼 Botanical Soap Making
Create all-natural, handmade soaps in this engaging, hands-on workshop! Participants will use tree butters, essential oils, and natural dried flowers, to create their own moisturizing botanical soaps. Trees give us so much in this world, and soap is a unique way to appreciate all of the gifts of trees. (9th grade and up)
-
🌳 Fruit Tree Pruning
Spend time on a local farm this winter learning the essentials of fruit tree pruning and exploring its deeper connection to our Torah relationship with trees. Discover why pruning is a vital winter activity and how it ties into the meaning of Tu B’Shvat, the "New Year for Trees." The workshop also includes a guided tour of the farm, where you'll learn about the seasonal cycles of growth on organic farms in the region. It’s a meaningful and hands-on way to connect with nature, Torah, and the beauty of the seasons. (Grade 1+)
